Blackberry Expected to Drop Two More Android Phones This Year

Blackberry Priv was a hit and the company has been driving in his glory. We did say it last year that Blackberry should consider releasing a cheaper alternative to Blackberry Priv as evidenced by an interview with Black CEO John Chen. According to CNet, there is another confirmation for this as explained by CEO of the company in the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

2016 might just be a difficult year for the die-hard BlackBerry10 OS lovers as the company prepares to go fully into Android. The Priv is a success and Blackberry will want to continue in that direction. After a 60-day exclusive deal with AT & T, Blackberry Priv will come to other providers such as Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint.

The choice to go with Android OS has been a fairly profitable one. In an earlier report Blackberry is said to depend on the Priv if they are to survive in the mobile market. The device is the decisive factor to know whether the company will remain in business or will not.

"So far, so good," said John Chen referring to the Priv Sales. He added: "I'm taking a cautiously optimistic view."

For now, Blackberry Priv costs $699 and the company plans to sell it in 31 countries over the course of the year. The objective of the company is selling 5 million units of the device, and John Chen has already hinted that the price would come down as time progresses.

Talking about Blackberry10, the company plans to obtain national security certificate for the operating system as is its use by the government and legal entities.

2016 looks like a good year for the company, Blackberry's experimenting with Android OS have been very profitable. For now, the company still offers BlackBerry10 devices such as the recently launched BlackBerry passport and a few others. However, there is no plan to launch a device running BlackBerry10 OS this year.
